Definitions of Service Offerings:

Contract: Contracting provides a variety of opportunities to the IT professional. It is used for a variety of reasons including variety of work and processes exposed to, freedom to work and select positions that best fit your needs at the current time, ability to explore various companies and positions to determine the best fit for you, work between direct positions, travel, higher rate of pay, project work including rollouts, upgrades, migrations, etc. Organizations utilize this model for contingent workers for many reasons including project work, cost savings, flexibility, staff augmentation, subject matter experts, etc. Work performed by the contract professional may be completed with Sullivan and Cogliano’s clients in either of the following two methods:

W-2: Contract professionals are an employee of Sullivan and Cogliano and all applicable taxes are withheld from bi-weekly paychecks.

Corp-to-Corp: Contract professionals are incorporated, hold a valid Federal Tax ID number, carry all necessary insurances, and are responsible for all of their own taxes.

Contract to Hire: Many companies utilize this model to establish their regular full time work staff for many reasons which could include: recruiting assistance for a large organization that doesn’t have the staff to support the amount of hiring necessary, the ability to evaluate the possible employee prior to making a full time commitment, flexibility of workforce, cost, etc. These potential reasons from the employer are also viable for the job seeker including flexibility, ability to determine whether this company is somewhere you wish to begin your next career, etc.

Direct Hire: A company is seeking to utilize an outside resource to help them source, screen, and coordinate the interview and hiring process with their company.
